Have A Cup Of Coffee (Be Still)

"Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world." (Psalm‬ 46:10, NLT‬‬)

One morning when I was sitting in my prayer room about to start my morning devotions it came to me to have a cup of coffee with the Lord. I know that sounds funny. How can someone have a cup of coffee with the Lord? This is interesting, I thought. So I made my coffee, poured it, and took a sip. I continued to sit there in silence with my mind on the Lord. Oh, what joy and pleasure I got from knowing that it was just Him and I. There was this lovely quietness as He was letting me know that He sees me and He’s my Friend.

I believe He just wanted me to sit still and notice Him. He is there. He is here. He loves me.

Sometimes I think we are so busy in our prayer and quiet time that we don’t have quiet time with Him. What I mean is that we are so busy about getting our Bible readings, prayers, and petitions in for the day, that we lose sight of the one main thing that is needful: to be still and know that He is God. Oh, how He loves us! This is so amazing to me. Because He loves us so much and has given us life—life abundantly (John 10:10)—let us love Him and let Him know.

We should of course continue to take our petitions and needs to Him in prayer. We also should get the reading of the Word in our daily quiet time. However, we do not want to neglect the just spending time being still in His presence.

Love Him. He loves you. He loves us. Be still and know (Psalm 46:10). It is wonderful that He wants to have a relationship with us. He wants us to have a relationship with Him too. So I encourage you, with your coffee or tea or if you decide to have nothing at all, to just be still with Him. You being there, having a relationship with Him is what pleases Him.

Pray And Declare:

Father thank You for loving me so much. It is too wonderful for me to comprehend. But I thank You that I can experience Your love through Jesus, Your Son. Will You please help me to be still and notice You—to know that You are God and just be content in Your Presence? My mind is focused on You. My heart is turned towards You. I am still and know that You are God. Amen!

Go Deeper:

The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. -Psalm‬ ‭‭46:10‬ NKJV

The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).

-Psalm‬ ‭‭46:10‬ AMPC

A thief has only one thing in mind—he wants to steal, slaughter, and destroy. But I have come to give you everything in abundance, more than you expect—life in its fullness until you overflow!

-Psalm‬ ‭‭46:10‬ TPT
